This species of hickory tree is considered to be a medium size tree. It typically grows to about 80 feet tall. The Mockernut is also considered a slow growing tree and it leaves grow to about 20 inches long. In the summer months its leaves green with a tint of yellow, but in the summer you can expect them to turn bright yellow in color. A unique feature of the tree is the fruit that it produces, the “nut” grows to about two inches in width and when it matures the husk splits into several pieces. This hickory also draws in wildlife such as chipmunks, deer, turkey, and many other forms of wildlife.
