We all love fresh pecans or walnuts

Freezing pecans and walnuts is a very simple thing to do.  You can freeze these in the shell or freeze them already shelled.  You just need to make sure that you use a good quality freezer bag or container.  Make sure that the nuts are clean; do not wash them because they will hold moisture.  Once all shell particles are removed simply place them inside of the Ziploc bag and place inside your freezer.  These will make great pecan pies during the summer months and you will also be able to use them in other recipes.  Pecans and walnuts should last for at least 6 months in the freezer; this will keep them from going bad.  It is also best to freeze them raw and not roasted.  When you take them out of the freezer to use you can roast them then if you need too.  Also it is very important to keep them air tight.  Nuts will absorb odors that are around them.  Also it is a great idea to freeze pecans and walnuts because they have such a high fat content they will go rancid if left out in the light and at room temperature.  A freezer is the perfect place to keep them because it will be dark.  If you decide to not shell them before freezing, place the unshelled nuts inside a burlap bag and sit the bag inside the freezer.  You can find more information regarding freezing pecans and walnuts online by researching this topic.
