There are several techniques to preparing apples and other types of fruit for freezing.  When preparing apples you need to slice these apples and remove the core.  You will need to soak them in lemon juice and water to prevent them from turning brown.  Once you have them sliced and have soaked them in the lemon water you will need to blanch them for around 1 to 2 minutes.  When you take the apples out place them in ice cold water and make sure they are drained well.  Once they have been drained you can pack them into freezer bags and you can also add some sugar if you would like.  To add sugar you will need to make syrup by adding 8 oz of sugar, 1 pint of water and ΒΌ teaspoon of ascorbic acid for each pink of syrup.  You can also make this same syrup for cherries.  You will need to wash and dry the cherries well and make sure that the stems have been removed.  After removing the pits you can pack the cherries into containers and add the syrup.  You can also freeze grapefruit by peeling it and removing the seeds.  Cut the grapefruit in segments and also use the sugar syrup to freeze the grapefruit in.  When freezing fruit with syrup you will need to allow for expansion in the containers.  There are several ways to freeze certain types of fruit.  The best thing to do is research which type of fruit you want to freeze and find the best recipe for you. There are many different kinds of fruit that freeze well like blackberries, blueberries and strawberries.
