Oak Leaf Hydrangea

Oakleaf Hydrangea - Hydrangea Quercifolia

The Oak Leaf Hydrangea Shrub is special because it's native to North America, and it's the only hydrangea that is. It has gorgeous large leaves that turn red in the fall. The flowers are bright white and will look fantastic lining the front of your house or garden entrance. The white flowers will fade to a tan-pinkish color when fall comes around. The leaves are gorgeous in the fall and turn orange and red.

The Oak Leaf Hydrangea Shrub doesn't need that much pruning and can be ground in the 5 - 9 planting zones. They will grow to around four to six feet in height and four to six feet in width if allowed to spread. This is average height, but they can get up to ten feet tall and eight feet wide in some cases. The leaves can reach up to twelve inches across.

They are cold hardy and do great in cold weather; they can stand up to dry weather better than some of their cousin plants. They have a long blooming period which is a good thing because you can enjoy them longer. One great thing about this gorgeous plant is it's naturally resistant to both insects and diseases. If they do get damaged by an unusually cold winter then you can prune them to take care of the damaged parts, the rest of the shrub will flourish.

They will grow great in a lot of compost and should often be watered if they are getting a lot of suns. When using the Oak Leaf Hydrangea Shrub on your property, you can put them somewhere they have room to grow naturally. They make beautiful cut flowers for your table or another décor, and the dried flowers can be used in many ways around the home.
